I was around for the Nancy Talbott Berkshire Mtn BGfest regime ….with Chuck Wentworth as a fan before he turned into promoter, got a kiss from Cindy Cashdollar at the 1979 URI fest. And quickly found Tex Logan and Ralph Stanley Jimmy Martin John Hartford Tony Rice
and many more favorites.
Who knows what I have from those days lugging a car battery around for video power.
Rob Berger has my 500 reels of audio tape Rock Blues& Bluegrass for release online.
I’ve kept all the video.
Hope I find someone interested in a project like this.

I have been taping since 1974 , Grateful Dead Hot Tuna Eagles etc audio when stereo portable dolby decks were invented, and then VHS BLUEGRASS in 1981 Bershire Mtn BG FEST…thru last season in Florida Arcadia with James King the ROYS etc. 3rd tyme out
DEl Mccoury with 10 yo Ronnie on Mandolin with fat David Nelson looking on from wings.
maybe 300-400 hours asst. Jorma ,Old Crow Rowan Bush RICE Gillian Merlefest 2002 donna the buffalo eilen jewell, lucinda williams ETC …mostly B-roll quality.
great for documentary type project (in 4 formats 8mm hi 8 mini DV VHS)
wondering if there is a group or student editor who would want to tackle a project like this.

Wonderful collaboration; shows a Father’s concern, yet pride in his Son’s upcoming Tour to a war zone. The many symbols in the video show the symbols of Freedom that have made what America is all about, and is worth fighting for. The words and music are haunting, yet lovingly done. Of course Nashville isn’t the only place to hear great bluegrass! It can be heard all over the country! I enjoyed Della Mae’s performances last year at the Joe Val Festival in Framingham, Mass., and I wrote about them at that time. They are among my new favorites!

You will continue to see frequent mentions of Nashville in my write-ups because I’ve been fortunate enough to have been able to travel there the past several years, and I have material to share.

Thanks for mentioning the Della Mae information, and feel free to comment here. People should definitely check them out. I have many videos of them, from performances in the Northeast and in Nashville, on my Youtube channel. I invite people to see them there. Although a fun city to visit, one does not need to travel to Nashville to see bluegrass, in fact many fine rising bluegrass musicians have chosen to move to the greater Boston area. Case in point, Della Mae – Celia Woodsmith – Vermont (vocals, guitar), Kimber Ludiker – Washington (fiddle, vocals), Courtney Hartman (guitar, vocals) and Amanda Kowalski (bass), Jenni Lyn Gardner – North Carolina

I am looking for a venue where a family group of talented bluegrass
performers,6young people and their Dad,”The Kempters” can perform when they come to this area in Oct.16th through the 24th
They master their respective instruments which are two guitars,one keyboard,one mandolin one cello ,one fiddle.
They all sing with beautiful pure voices,no affectation no vibrato,excellent pitch and harmonize.

I have a cd which can be provided.
They are booked SunAM the 23rd and Sat pm the 22nd as well as an afternoon on the 20th
I am looking to fill their schedule and have never been an”agent” before.

I have enjoyed hearing Larry sing for years, and I am happy to announce that he will be appearing at the Historic Alpine Theatre in Ripley West Virginia on the 13th of August 2011 for two shows. The first is at 2:00 PM and the second is at 7:00 PM. We are really happy that Larry is bringing his band to this small venue where the Band and the Audience can get really close. If you want to hear good Bluegrass in a small theatre plan on posting this and then coming to Ripley WV on the 13th of August to hear Larry.

I’ve been a fan of these guys for at least 25 years, once upon a time eagerly frequenting the Tower Records store at Mass Avenue and Newbury Street for any new cassettes they might have dropped off. And I’ve been to a few of their Boston area performances these past couple of years. This evening was really special as I am sure you can tell. Steve has done a wonderful job of documenting this, and posting here and on YouTube a half dozen songs. Thank you so much and please post anything else you have.
